Why MNtunes

Minnesota punches far above its weight musically. Prince and the Minneapolis Sound, Bob Dylan out of Hibbing, the Replacements and Hüsker Dü, Rhymesayers and Doomtree, Trampled by Turtles out of Duluth. The rooms that scene grew up in deserve better than a listing line with an address.

So MNtunes starts with the venues: how big they are, who runs them, what they’re known for, and where their real calendar lives. Then the summer festivals, then the unglamorous business of a show: licensing, withholding, and where your cover charge actually goes.

How we check things

Every capacity, opening year and operator on this site was checked against the venue’s own site or reputable local press before publishing. Capacities are approximate by nature, and rooms change hands. If something’s wrong, email hello@mntunes.com and we’ll fix it.

What’s next

More rooms (the Twin Cities club layer, then the regional theaters in St. Cloud, Red Wing, Mankato and beyond) and, eventually, a combined calendar built only from sources that allow it.
